Test planning Andermatt Mitte - "The new center - a place for everyone"

The planning for Andermatt Mitte aims to exploit the village's potential and create a diverse, easily accessible center. The development takes into account the existing central features in Andermatt, including the historic village center, the central train station adjacent to the Chedi and the new Andermatt Reuss resort.

The aim is to connect these areas and introduce new, identity-creating elements. The concept "The new center - a place for everyone" focuses on people's needs and aims to create reasons to visit, linger and return.

The utilization concept aims to make Andermatt Mitte attractive through a broad mix of offerings. These include mobility options, sports and leisure facilities, promenades with restaurants and shopping opportunities as well as affordable apartments. A more urban environment with a sports center and public uses is being created in the north. To the south, various building blocks with commercial and residential uses will be created, with the station area being extended by the Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway.

The open space design focuses on creating year-round attractions for all age groups. The open green space and the hill offer local recreational opportunities, while the diverse planting and unpaved areas promote ecological diversity. Targeted design creates squares, paths and parks that appeal to tourists and locals alike.

Overall, the concept aims to make Andermatt Mitte a lively, versatile and sustainable center that takes into account the needs of the community and visitors alike.
