In the analysis phase of the green and open space concept, all the sites in the urban area of Rapperswil were examined based on their utilization profile and assessed from the perspective of ecological value, function, characteristics, and design. We were thus able to determine quantitative and qualitative deficits and show potentials for the future. The open space concept that resulted is a guideline for the different types of open spaces and offers assistance for their functional development. A green space concept that provides recommendations for the ecology and vegetation of the city of Rapperswil-Jona was created in a similar way. Both aspects are finally overlaid and combined in the green and open space concept.
