Railway station forecourt

The open square in front of the station becomes a meeting point and hub in the city center. Important traffic flows converge here. Structure and clarity create an overview and safety.

An open square between the Rondelle, Derby and Stadtsaal marks the meeting point and hub on the eastern section of Bahnhofplatz. This is where the important pedestrian and bicycle connections converge and where most travelers arrive. The square is cleared at eye level, creating an overview and safety. In the peripheral area, loosely placed groups of trees play the square and thus form a contrast to the regular rows of trees of the approaching street spaces, especially the newly developed avenue on the upper Bahnhofstrasse. This leads directly into the town center of Wiler. Towards the west follows the elegant looking central roof of the bus station, which leads to the transfer possibilities to cab, bus and Frauenfeld-Wil-Bahn. The continuous in-situ concrete pavement marks the more heavily trafficked area of the bus station with the high stopping edges and contrasts with the surrounding asphalt surfaces.
