Seegartenstrasse, Horgen

A high-quality apartment complex has been created on the site of a former paper factory. To do so, the entire site was freed of contamination. In the analysis, visual contact with the lake and the link between public and private space was put in the foreground. The generous plantings of perennials and grasses create a homogeneous, graceful carpet. Privacy for residents is the primary goal, without which the site falls apart into small, individual areas. At the same time, visitors are provided with access to the lake. From the lakeside, the development is framed by a planting of reeds. Indigenous trees are situated toward the wastewater treatment plant.
